CCSO Citizens Academy is back
ANAHUAC— For those interested in a behind-the-scenes peek of the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, now is the chance to apply for the annual Citizens Academy.
The Chambers County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for its Citizens Academy, and the deadline is Monday, Feb. 2.
The program provides an in-depth look at the various tasks and responsibilities of the different departments within the CCSO.
From K-9 operations and narcotics enforcement to crime scene investigations and the drone team, the Citizens Academy offers quite the insight.
Other topics include the special response team, marine division and more.
Participants will have the chance to watch car and bodycam footage and K-9 demonstrations, as well as participate in various scenarios and view a variety of equipment.
The eight-week program will be from Thursday, March 19, to Thursday, May 14, and participants will meet once a week from 6 to 8 p.m. Meetings will be held in Anahuac.
The course is free of charge, but space is limited. Applicants are subject to a background check.
