The upcoming Dayton City Council general election is scheduled for Saturday May 1st. On the ballot for election to City Council Member Position #5 is Janette Goulder- Frick. A top 10 honor graduate of Dayton High School, she achieved a BBA in Information Systems from University of Houston, a masters in project management from Georgetown University and a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.

This week the Senate passed Senate Bill 1, the Senate’s version of the budget for this year. The budget includes over $11 billion for children and teacher public education support, $8 billion for mental health support, including an almost $20 million increase for children’s mental health programs, and over $25 billion for highway improvements and new construction. The budget is a reflection of our priorities this session and took over six weeks to put together.
Read moreAs much of the country has been shut down due to the face-to-face threat of the COVID-19 virus, Sheriff Bobby Rader made this precautionary move for the county jail several months ago which, fortunately, was reflected in the fact that not a single case of the virus developed within the county jail. Therefore, in order to once again allow visitation within the county jail to resume, Sheriff Rader submitted a Jail Visitation plan to the Texas Commission On Jail Standards which was approved. He also consulted with local Health Authorities and the decision was made to open the county jail to visitation effective on April 19th, 2021.
