Hardin and Tarkington met on Saturday afternoon at the Lady Hornets gymnasium, with both teams needing wins to keep their playoff hopes alive. Hardin grabbed a big firsthalf lead and never looked back as they knocked off the Ladyhorns 58-41 in a district tilt. Maddy Fregia was on fire early on for the Lady Hornets as she scored on a drive and then drained a triple to make it a 7-3 advantage. Tarkington then cut the deficit to 7-5 on an Emily Lowe steal and score. Hardin then ended the opening period on an 8-2 run capped off by a full length of the court pass from Fregia to Madison Boston, who scored on a lay-up, and the advantage was 15-7 after a quarter of play. Fregia then connected on another three-pointer early in the second period, and the lead was 20-8. Brianna Boddie then answered for the Ladyhorns with a bucket as she was fouled to get within 20-10. Georgia Vance then grabbed an offensive rebound and scored, and then a jumper by Reese Parker had the advantage out to 32-16 late in the first half. Down 34-16 at the break, Lowe scored the first six points of the third quarter for Tarkington, and that helped the visitors get within 35-22. Lindsey Tinner then scored a couple of buckets for Hardin to get the lead back to 42-28. Emmah Hebert then came off the bench and nailed a couple of big three-pointers and the advantage was up to 47-29. The Ladyhorns made one last run led by Lowe, who stroked a three-pointer to get her team within 51-39 before the sophomore fouled out with 2:54 remaining in the game. The Lady Hornets then ended the contest on a 7-2 run to secure the victory. Lowe scored a gamehigh 24 points to lead Tarkington, while Boddie added 10. Hardin was led by Tinney, who scored 14 points and Fregia with 13.
