The Huffman-Hargraves Falcons took advantage of their speed and experience Friday night when they handed the Liberty Panthers a 28-0 loss in the season opener. Huffman had eight returning offensive players from a team that went all the way to the Regional Championship last year, their most successful season on record. Their returning senior quarterback Luke Thomas and senior receiver Gunnar Gates were a combination that Liberty’s excellent defense just couldn’t stop.

Hardin was the only team in Liberty County to secure a win in the opening week of play. The Hornets were set to play their Homecoming game against the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats this Friday night, however that game has been canceled and details on a a rescheduled Homecoming will come at a later date.

The Freshman team lost to Nederland in two sets with scores of 16-25 and 11-25. The JV team lost to Nederland in two sets with scores of 20- 25 and 17-25. Varsity was unable to eliminate their own errors, which caused Nederland to gain momentum and push points in a row for the Lady Broncos to lose in three sets with scores of 15-25, 9-25, 9-25.
