DAYTON LADY BRONCOS — A weekend on the island saw the Lady Broncos finish the Galveston Tournament with a 5-1 record. Four of the five wins saw shutouts by the Dayton pitching staff. Madi Alvarado blanked Bay City 2-0 as Mika Anthony-Conner homered. Jess Woods got the win against Fort Bend Austin 7-2, and then on Friday, it was Alvarado allowing only two hits in a 16-0 victory over George Ranch as Anthony- Conner and Ashlyn Didway each had homers. The only blemish was an 8-7 loss to Galveston Ball on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the Lady Broncos won against Spring Hill 10-0 and South Hills 10-0.

LUFKIN — Although things got tight in the fourth quarter, the Liberty Lady Panthers found a way to buckle down and ended the game, scoring the final five points of the night to capture the Area Championship on Friday night over Palestine 44-38.
