The Cleveland Indians and Head Coach Matthew Mitchell ushered in their new Baseball and Softball Facility this past season. Although it was not the district record the Indians wanted, Cleveland picked up a couple of wins in the Spring Branch Tournament and their own Rotary Tournament.

Liberty sophomore Kamdyn Chandler not only pitched the Lady Panthers to a State Semi-final win on Thursday night, but she also delivered the hit of the night with a three-run double in the third inning to lead her team to a 5-3 win over the Iowa Park Lady Hawks.

Fresh off another State Championship, the Liberty Lady Panthers had six players named to the UIL Softball State All-Tournament Team. Five of the six Liberty players are underclassmen, with the exception being senior Kylie Bishop, who was named the MVP of the championship final. Joining Bishop on the team are pitcher Kamdyn Chandler, catcher Hollie Thomas, second baseman Reese Evans, shortstop Breezy Pantalion, and left fielder Bailee Slack. State runner-up Sweeny had three players named to the team.

The girls’ game will start at 5 pm with Liberty’s Emalee Villarreal taking part. The boys’ game will begin at 7 pm with Dayton’s Jorge Sifuentes and Cleveland’s Adan Alcantata representing the West side.
