WINNIE– The Runnin' Bucs of East Chambers definitely lived up to their name on Friday night as three players scored 20 or more points and the Buccaneers rolled to an 88-51 victory over Anahuac in District 22-3A action.

East Chambers used their full-court press to create some easy scoring opportunities on the night.

The Buccaneers are now 22-5 on the season and 6-1 in district play. The Panthers fall to 4-17 on the season and 2-5.

Evan Callahan scored the first five points as East Chambers jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Colby West then scored on a reverse lay-up to make it 7-1.

Anahuac responded with three-pointers by Tre Smith and Cullen Cotton to pull within 8-7.

Moments later, it was Reid Todd getting a steal and then scoring while he was fouled to make it 14-9.

Trailing 18-11, the Panthers' Brad Coates scored four quick points by hitting a bucket, then stealing the ensuing pass and scoring again, and the deficit was down to 18-15.

The Buccaneers then put up a big second period.

First, it was Cam Dillard connecting from downtown to make it 26-17, then a steal and score by West, and then another make from three-point land by Callahan, and East Chambers led 42-25.

Jaytwan Dowdye nailed a three-pointer early in the second half, and Anahuac trailed 45-29.

Callahan made it a 53-36 lead a few moments later on a three-pointer for the Buccaneers.

Late in the third period, Cotton scored on a nice drive, making the score 59-41 heading into the fourth.

Dayvon Wallace, who was held scoreless in the first half, erupted for 20 second half points, and his three-pointer with 2:30 left in the game had East Chambers leading 77-48.

Callahan led the Bucs with 22 points and Dillard finished with 21. Dowdye led Anahuac with 11 points and Cotton added 10.

East Chambers will host Warren on Friday night, while the Panthers will welcome Hardin.
