The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office is once again asking neighborhoods to join in on some family-friendly fun as National Night Out is just around the corner.

CCSO is hosting its Fourth Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 7, where law enforcement officials will travel around the county to get to know residents in a light-hearted way.

“Overall, National Night Out is significant for the Sheriff’s Office as it promotes a sense of community, encourages proactive involvement, and ultimately, contributes to a safer, more connected county,” said CCSO Deputy Santiago “Turbo” Turrubiate, Jr.

National Night Out is recognized across the country on the first Tuesday of August, and in Texas, it is typically recognized on the first Tuesday in October.

Law enforcement departments around the country organize the event each year to better connect with their communities and share knowledge on the various duties they have.

Interested neighborhoods can sign up for CCSO personnel to come out and visit them. Some neighborhoods have hosted block parties and cookouts with games or other family-friendly activities.

Teams from CCSO are assigned to the different locations, including west, east and mid-county areas.

Teams will bring along K9s, motorcycles and other gear such as drones, helmets, vests and more. Fire departments and emergency services personnel will tag along with CCSO teams to meet with county residents.

Wallisville Fire Department is also having its own event at its station, 546 Number 9 Road, Wallisville.

Neighborhoods that register are also added to CCSO’s official patrol route.

The deadline to register for NNO is Sept. 22. To register your neighborhood or for more details, contact the CCSO Community Engagement Team at 409-267-2577 or email ccsoedu@chamberstx.gov.
