Granger and Butler nab top awards in 22-3A
ANAHUAC— It was a big year on and off the field for the Anahuac Lady Panthers softball team, and several members of the team are being recognized for their talents.
Anahuac picked up a couple of the top awards on the 22-3A All-District Team, with senior Jayda Granger named the district's Defensive MVP, while senior Keeley Butler picked up the Co-Offensive MVP with Orangefield's Charlee Sanches.
Orangefield freshman Teal Kibodeaux was named the District's MVP. The Newcomer of the Year was also from Orangefield, freshman Jocelyn Droddy. The Coach of the Year was Rebekah Ragsdale of Orangefield.
Sophomore Hannah McKenzie of the Lady Panthers was named to the first team.
The Lady Panthers had four players named to the second team. They are sophomore Breckin Wilpitz, senior Gabriella Palacios, sophomore Estafanie Palacios and senior Kaitlynn McDaniel.
Anahuac made a nice run in district and then faced off against Huntington in the first round of the playoffs. The Devilettes won the series in two games, bringing an end to the Lady Panthers' season.
