Dayton to consider hiring new Police Chief

With the recent shake up at the top of the Dayton Police Department, after former Chief Robert Vine resigned in order to take a city management position in Paris, TX, the department has been under the leadership of interim Shane Burleigh since just before Christmas.

Now the Dayton City Council has called a special meeting for today, Jan. 6 at 6 pm in order to consider the possible hiring of a new chief to lead the department.

Council will meet in executive session, before possibly making a selection of a new chief.
