HARDIN — Looking for that big hit to win in the seventh inning, the Hardin Lady Hornets could not find that one big knock, and East Chambers would string a couple of hits in the eighth inning to beat the Lady Hornets 4-2 in extra innings.

The Lady Buccaneers used a tworun double in the top of the third inning to move in front 2-0.

Hardin cut the deficit in half with a one in the fourth inning. Kenadi Frauenberger walked and then moved to second on a passed ball. Emma Smart followed with a single to plate Frauenberger and the score was 2-1.

With Olivia Dryden holding East Chambers in check at the plate, the Lady Hornets would tie things up in the sixth.

Kayleigh Fregia singled and then moved to second on a Smart single. Kaitlyn Key followed with a single to score Fregia, and the game was deadlocked at 2-apiece.

Hardin had a golden opportunity to walk it off in the bottom of the seventh inning as Jocelyn Armstrong walked and then moved to third as Frauenberger put down a nice bunt and would reach on an error by the Lady Buccaneers second baseman.

Unfortunately, the Lady Hornets could not deliver, and East Chambers would win in the eighth.

Dryden struck out four and pitched eight strong innings. Smart and Key each finished with two hits at the plate and an RBI.
