CLEVELAND — Xavier Woods pitched outstanding baseball against College Park on Saturday afternoon, but it would not be enough for Cleveland as they fell 2-1 to open district play. Woods pitched a complete game and struck out four in the tough loss. Andres Campos had two hits and an RBI to lead the Indians at the plate.

HARDIN — The Hardin Hornets have started 3-0 in district play. On Friday at Anahuac, the Hornets got a dominant performance from Lleyton Berry on the mound, scoring a 4-1 win over the Panthers. Berry struck eight and allowed just four hits. Hardin scored two runs in the first and added two more in the fifth. Hunter Whitehead and Trevor Jones had RBI doubles at the plate.

DAYTON — After dropping their district opener to Porter 6-5 the night before, the Dayton Broncos responded with a huge performance against Nacogdoches last Wednesday, beating the Dragons 3-1. Hunter Wallace struck eight on pitching six innings, and then Justin Purviance pitched the seventh inning for the save. Justin Hector had two hits and Tyler Threadgill picked up an RBI at the plate.

LIBERTY — Zander Davila pitched a two-hitter and Ethan Hofmeister had three hits in leading the Liberty Panthers to a big 8-0 victory over Livingston on Thursday afternoon at City Park Field. Davila struck out four and walked just one in the complete game performance. Caden Mullinix had two RBIs.
