Lady Panthers lose to EC, beat Deweyville
Last week, the Anahuac Lady Panthers took a tough loss to rival East Chambers, but they were able to secure a much-needed victory over Deweyville to close out the week.
Hoping for a repeat of the 2024 East Chambers matchup, the Lady Panthers were disappointed, going down in three instead.
The Lady Panthers were just never able to muster much, falling in three sets, 25-16, 25-19, 25-16.
The Anahuac team gave a better showing against East Chambers than we have been seeing.
Callie Jo Henicke was outstanding on the back row with crucial digs to target. Middle Blocker, Addilyn Pierce, had a good match with kills in every set and rare errors.
Overall, the team corrected their service error issue.
On Friday, while homecoming festivities were underway in Anahuac, the Lady Panthers hooked up with Deweyville and took the win in three sets, 25-10, 25-15, 25-9.
Several Lady Panthers were unavailable due to homecoming, including Avery Smith, who was crowned homecoming queen. So, with the absences, the black and gold did remarkably well.
Madison Willis and Brogan May were digging in with a combined 32 digs on the night.
The team will be looking for momentum as the season edges toward its mid-season stretch.
Anahuac's record is now 9-24 on the season, and they were in action last night against Buna and will face Kirbyville at home on Friday.
