Anahuac clinches playoff spot with 58-47 win

COLDSPRING– The Anahuac Panthers are heading to the playoffs. Needing a win at Coldspring on Thursday night to clinch a spot, Panthers Head Coach Greg Neece and his team outscored the Trojans 58-47 to extend their season.

Anahuac will now face Fairfield on Friday night in Willis.

The Panthers finished with 500 yards of offense in the win over Coldspring.

Three different Anahuac players rushed for over 100 yards. Jaytwan Dowdye led the ground game with 116 yards and two touchdowns, while teammate Darius Richardson was right behind with 114 yards and two touchdowns and teammate Oscar Garza added 105 yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Braydon Sutch passed for 166 yards on 9 of 16 passing and a touchdown. Dowdye was his favorite target with four receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown. MyQuiet Davis had a 37-yard reception and Aiden King had a 32-yard catch.

The Panthers and Fairfield will kick off at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles are 10-0 on the season and have scored 592 points in ten games. They are averaging a whopping 59.2 points per game.
