Hardin-Jefferson defeats EC 65-59 in championship
WINNIE– The East Chambers Buccaneers hosted their annual Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament last week and made it to the championship game against Hardin-Jefferson before falling to the Hawks in a terrific game, 65-59.
Hardin-Jefferson led 30-28 entering the third quarter, and then the Hawks extended their lead to 19 points before the Buccaneers fiercely came back and closed the gap to four points with 14 seconds left before HJ would hold on for the win.
Dayvon Wallace led East Chambers in scoring with 22 points and teammate Evan Callahan finished with 17. Colby West was also in double figures with 11.
Making the all-tournament team for the Buccaneers were Dayvon Wallace, Colby West and Cam Dillard.
During the tournament, East Chambers picked up wins over Beaumont Kelly 73-43, Shepherd 80-55, Vidor 76-41 and Huntington 50-48 in overtime to advance to the title game.
The Buccaneers are now 17-3 on the season and will host Orangefield at home on Friday night.
