On June 10, 2021, a Liberty County jury found Lawrence Hubert, 41, guilty of the offenses of Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon (2 Counts) and Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Conviction. The jury sentenced Hubert to 30 years in prison on the firearm charge and two years in prison on the Evading charge. Due to his prior felony history, Hubert faced a potential punishment range of twenty-five years to life in prison.

Those chosen were recognized for achievements on the playing field and the character they have shown off the field throughout their lifetime.

The close of the 2021 school year means graduating senior students for the last time leaving high school. The Liberty Panthers are losing a good one in Devin Fregia. As I talked to Devin via a phone interview on Saturday night, I realized just how special this kid is and will be. Fregia is headed to Beaumont to play football for Lamar University, and the Cardinals are getting a good one.
