The notorious train known for stopping or slowly moving across the tracks on Hwy 90 has been the bane of the community for decades. Almost daily, there are social media posts about people getting trapped behind this train. There was even a song written about the Dayton train and there is a Facebook page dedicated to stories about it. For many years there have been discussions on the best way to handle the situation involving the train, and now there may finally be multiple solutions in the works. Liberty County and City of Dayton officials have been in discussions with railroad companies, officials from the State of Texas and federal officials to create long-term and short-term plans to correct the problem.
